Re: Mimlos Arizona Dispute
I
checked up on that thing you asked me about. Looks like Mimlos Inc. tried
taking some land from a Hopi reservation in Arizona about a year ago to drill
the place for oil. There was a huge uproar over the whole deal, but the courts
sided in favor of Mimlos. Kinda the usual story for how these things go, sadly.
Now here’s where it gets weird: the company was all ready to go in and start
working when their CEO, that guy who vanished a few days ago, called the entire
operation off and gave the land back.
Most
analysts point out that moment as when the company started going downhill.
They’ve been spending the entire last year shutting down most of their big
projects and laying off huge numbers of workers. The projects they have started
up have all been exploratory expeditions into places where they’ve got no
chance of finding any oil. Their stock price has been in a nosedive lately. I
think this whole disappearing thing the CEO did’s because he’s trying to get
away from the lawsuit his stockholders are preparing to pull on him, but that’s
just my theory. Hope this all helped.
